Nissan has released the prices and specs of the latest MY20 LEAF

Since its introduction in 2018, sales of the second-generation Nissan LEAF have continued to climb with 2020 already up 56 per cent vs 2019. Now, the latest model year 2020 version has started production ushering in a new 'entry level' 62kWh version and a cheaper top-spec Tekna e+.

Rolling off the production line from November 16, the MY20 LEAF doesn't mix things up too much – so we won't go into tremendous detail on the technical side of things. What Nissan has done with the MY20 LEAF is essentially offer the same, but for slightly less – which is good news. We'll highlight the enhancements further down, so without further ado, here's how the model range stacks up.

• Nissan LEAF Acenta: At £26,845, the no-frills entry-level car has the 40kWh battery and 168 miles of range – a realistic number in our experience. Power and performance is 147bhp, 214lb-ft and 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds.
• Nissan LEAF N-Connecta: For £28,145 the N-Connecta comes with the same powertrain but also the intelligent roundview mirror with intelligent rear view mirror a £395 option (see below for details). ProPILOT driver assistance is a £450 cost option – which is £145 less than it used to be. 
• Nissan LEAF Tekna: At £30,160 the Tekna is the top of the 40kWh cars. It comes with a BOSE audio system with seven speakers, intelligent rear view mirror and ProPILOT as standard. 
• Nissan LEAF e+ N-Connecta: For £32,695, the new entry level e+ car gets the 62kWh battery and more powerful motor, delivering 239 miles of range. ProPILOT is a £450 cost option. Power and performance is 216bhp, 251lb-ft and 0-62mph in 6.9 seconds. 
• Nissan LEAF e+ N-TEC: Costing £33,295 on the road, the limited edition e+ grade car gets LED headlights as well as standard ProPILOT driver assistance. 
• Nissan LEAF e+ Tekna: At £34,710, the top-spec car is £1685 cheaper than it used to be. It gets LED fog lights with cornering function, intelligent rear view mirror and ProPILOT as standard. 

New toys

The intelligent rear view mirror is a £395 option on N-Connecta versions and standard on Tekna cars. It has a built-in LCD monitor so drivers can switch between displaying the rear camera view, or the standard rear view mirror – depending on preference.

Blind spot intervention is standard across all models, adding to the LEAF's safety features. Another range-standard feature is a new steering wheel which now adjusts for reach as well as rake. Finally, on N-Connecta models and up, the LEAF gets a new shark fin antenna.

A new body colour – Ceramic Grey – is available for £745, or if combined with Pear Black Metallic for a two-tone design, £1095.
