Geeley launch all-electric car brand

Chinese automotive giant Geeley Auto Group has launched Geometry, a new global all-electric vehicle brand, and unveiled its first model at a launch event in Singapore.

The high-end model, named Geometry A, comes in two versions, with a standard range of 410km on the NEDC cycle (249 miles) and a long range of 500km (311 miles), which use CATL ternary lithium batteries that respectively have a capacity of 51.9kWh and 61.9kWh. There are six different configurations and it is said to redefine the standard for pure electric sedans combining class-leading safety, attractive design, technological innovation and high-capacity batteries.

The powertrain system provides a maximum power of 120kW (161hp) and maximum torque of 184lb-ft allowing Geometry A to reach 62mph from zero in 8.8 seconds. Using Fast Charge, Geometry A can charge from 30 to 80 per cent in just 30 minutes and consumes an average of 13.5 kWh per 62 miles travelled. It’s also equipped with the Super E Energy Station system, which can supply power to laptops, ovens, lamps, and other equipment with an external power plug.

It adopts a minimalistic, futuristic design, which pays special attention to the aerodynamics of the vehicle’s exterior, offering an ultra-low drag co-efficient of 0.2375cd, comparable to high-performance models. Inside it’s similarly understated and uses eco-friendly materials and tech that sets a new benchmark for A-segment pure electric sedans.

With exclusively developed platforms, distribution channels, and products, Geometry aims to launch ten pure electric models in multiple segments including sedans, SUVs, crossovers, and MPVs by 2025. The launch of Geometry and its first product, which has received over 27,000 orders (18,000 of which are from overseas), advances Geely’s goal of becoming one of the world’s top 10 automotive groups.
